When we think of the greatest basketball player to ever play a few names pop up. Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and then of course Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan is iconic, to his signature pose of him dunking to his amazing clothing brand to his unbelievable basketball career. Many kids strive to be just like him. But the real question is how did Michael Jordan become a success?

Michael Jordan is one of the greatest athletes to ever walked the planet. Most people with talent like that have been gifted from birth. We think of the old footage of a 3-year-old Tiger Woods smashing his driver 150 yards or Serena Williams already beating opponents three or four years older than her so surely it must be the same with Jordan right? Wrong. Michael Jordan attended high school at Emsley A. Laney located in North Carolina. From here Michael was always a big sports kid. He enjoys football, baseball and of course basketball. Going into his sophomore year Michael decided to try out for the Varsity team. After tryouts Michael got cut. The coach told him he was too short to be on varsity. Michael standing at 5’11’’ was mad. He was then put on the Junior Varsity team where he wanted to prove himself.

With a successful JV season, Michael turned heads as he grew 4 inches over summer and was now standing at around 6’3’’. Michael went on to play varsity both his junior and senior season and turned heads as he averaged a triple-double in his senior season. After having a standout year Michael was picked to be in the McDonald’s All-American game where the best high school players from around the country gather to play a game in front of tons of big colleges.
Michael Jordan ended up receiving a handful of Division 1 offers and decided to commit to North Carolina. At the University of North Carolina, Michael went on to play 3 seasons and had a lot of success and decided to enter the NBA draft. In the first round of the 1984 NBA Draft, Michael Jordan was selected with the third overall pick to play for the Chicago Bulls. With the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan went on to win 6 NBA titles and three of those were in a row and he has been named a 14 time NBA All-Star and won 6 MVPs. With that little failure from not making Varsity as a sophomore Michaels Jordan’s flame was lit and he will forever be a superstar.
